Welcome to all returning and  new students and families… BDS is committed to bringing you the best dance training available.  Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions and we will  be happy to help you.

You can find regular updates, news and information on our facebook page,  website, and also find copies of the newsletters available at the front desk.

Our school is constantly growing and we are always updating the schedule as new classes are added throughout the year.

We are currently accepting new registrations for 2nd Term.  Classes will be capped at 8 students, per class. After 8, a new class will be available for that age group. Second Ballet classes are offered on Saturdays, if you would like to transfer to a weekend class, please let us know.

~ NEW ~ 

Teen Jazz

Classes are starting this month.

Ages 11 – 13  Thursdays  6:00 – 7:00pm.

I am very excited for this class, we have been waiting for a long time to start our Jazz program!

Ballet Fit

Classes are starting Jan. 18 Fridays 9:00 – 10:00am.

High energy and fun class, taught by Susan White, certified instructor, to bring you the best of 2 worlds (Ballet and Fitness). No previous experience required.

~ CONTINUING  ~

Seniors Class 

Special discount available for ‘seniors’ with valid ID. Everyone is welcome! All exercises are done using the ballet barre. A wonderful class designed to increase your core strength, balance, coordination and flexibility. No experience necessary.

YOGA  with Donna Poulidis 

Donna’s Yoga classes are a wonderful addition to the studio, and filled with positive energy. These classes are also growing, please contact her directly for more info.

Adult TAP classes Taught by Kerry Jackson. A great way to stay in shape and have fun! BDS highly recommends this class to adults looking for a great Tap class.

~ DROP OFF AND PICK UP ~

Please continue to take off street shoes at the entrance. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

All students must wait inside to be picked up. If you are going to be late or can not make it to class please call, text or e-mail the studio.

BEACH DANCE SCHOOL

Welcome to all returning and new students and families….  We had a busy summer in July and August with our first Summer School – Dance Camp at our new location. Students had the opportunity to learn new dance styles and make new friends. We had both Half day and Full day camps during 2 months of summer. Due to the extreme hot weather this year BDS installed (central) A/C, which made dancing more fun and enjoyable.

September came fast, and now we are off to an amazing start… BDS is now offering classes in TAP, JAZZ, HIP HOP and MUSICAL THEATRE. Please check the schedule and Facebook page for regular updates, news and info. We are still accepting registrations, space available in Saturday classes, also new classes are being added to the schedule…

~ SHOES ~

Street shoes are not permitted in the studio. Everyone must take their shoes off and place their shoes on the shoe rack, located beside the entrance. This is the only way we can keep our studio clean and safe for dancing. Please help keep dirt, grit, sand and wet puddles on rainy days off and away from the studio. Also Ballet Shoes should not be worn as street shoes, these shoes are specially designed for dancing and they’re made for dance floors. Please help us teach our future dancers to respect their dance attire. Thank you kindly for your cooperation…

~ FEES ~

All students are required to bring post-dated cheques. This secures your child’s spot and also helps office administration run smoother. NSF cheques are subject to a $45 charge.

BDS kept busy this Summer 🙂 offering DANCE CAMP in July and August.

We made new friends, saw some old friends, learned new dance styles and songs, even played at the beach. We have posted our pictures on Facebook and some on the website as well. Thank you to all that participated ! And Thank you to Ms. Delaney who brought BDS her fresh Jazz and Hip Hop moves as well as a world from Disney with her Musical Theatre classes….

Overall, it was an amazing summer! It’s sad that it went by so fast and now it is almost over… we already have some great ideas for next year’s Dance Camp! We’ll just have to wait for next summer 😉

Dear Parents and Students,

BDS will be having its 2nd Dance Recital at St.Aidan’s Church this year on June 23 at Saturday at 2pm. Please mark your calendar for this special event 

Here are some important notes:

* Students will have to arrive 1 hour prior to recital time.

* There is no numbered seating, please tell your guests to arrive a little early.

* The recital will take about 1 hour.

* Please Do Not take any pictures during the recital. Dangerous and distracting for the dancers.

* Please stay after the recital, we will be handing out Certificates on stage.

* Early Bird Registration will also be on this day for our Fall program (there will be a discount).

* In June I will be handing out Report Cards, which will have placement information for next year.

* You may also register for Summer Dance School on this day (July and August, half day camps)

* Ticket order forms will be ready for pick up on May 9.

* There will be a PRIZE for the family that sells the most tickets!

* We will have a professional Videographer filming the recital this year, I will hand out information about DVD order forms and fees mid May.

Dear Parents and Students,

I am delighted to announce our new Tap classes (for Adults) have already started. This is a beginners Tap class, for anyone who wants to put the rhythm to their feet or a great class to brush up on your technique if you have taken Tap before. Class is on Saturdays 10:45 – 11:45am  You may use your Dance card for this class. Sign up now and get your first class for FREE !

Also we are starting *New Jazz and Hip hop classes for teens ages 10 – 12 on Thursdays at 5pm. Contact the school to reserve your spot. Classes commence March 22 !

Reminder March Break is fast approaching, there will be no classes the week of March 12th Except for Adult classes which will run as usual.

Adults are welcome to come for ‘make-up’ classes if they miss their regular class time. You may book a time with Ms. Sue on Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Stretch and Strengthening on Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:15pm is for adults (teens ok) and on a drop in basis, however, consistency in attendance is recommended for better results. Your first class is for FREE ! Dance Cards are available for this class.

Please continue to remove your street shoes when you enter the studio, this helps keep the studio safe and clean for everybody. Thank you for your cooperation.

Year end recital date and location TBA (to be announced). Please contact the school asap if you think you might be away mid-June. This is an exciting time for all and we hope that everyone will be able to participate. Tickets will go on sale May 9. BDS has grown and this year we will need Parent Volunteers, I will put together a sign up sheet in May. We will need volunteers to stay backstage, in the wings and front of the house. Any help during this time is greatly appreciated….

Attire and Shoe exchange located in the first change room downstairs, please leave shoes, leotards, skirts, books etc in the Blue Bin.

I have discount cards available from Mara’s, contact me if you need one.

Great Start to the New Year ! BDS continues to grow….

We are now offering Adult Tap classes on Saturdays. Ms. Kelly Boaz will be teaching this class, you can find her bio under “Staff” tab. It is a pleasure to have her on board…. please contact the school for more info.

A reminder to all students and parents, please continue to take off street shoes when you enter the studio. No shoes allowed in the basement either. As you know there has been some changes downstairs, we now have our little studio back in the basement 🙂

I am also excited to announce a new addition to the BDS family…. besides John who is starting Ballroom classes, we now welcome Jodie Friesen from “Little voices Dancing Feet”. She will be joining us end of March.

BDS is also looking for “Handy” dads or moms, to help volunteer with little repairs, odds and ends in the studio….

Welcome back to our BDS family And new students… I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday… It feels great to be back at the studio !

I am excited to inform everyone about our new Senior Ballet Class on Saturdays.  BDS will be offering pointe and variations on Saturday mornings. Please contact the school for more info…this is intermediate – advance level, for the more serious ballerinas 🙂

Also a new adult Hip Hop \ Jazz class is being added to our program. Beginner level, also on Saturday mornings. I’m looking forward to this class and to getting my groove on 🙂

BDS is also offering a special discount to those who bring a friend to class. When your friend registers, you are entitled to your special discount !
